Our Purpose
South Asian Cultural Exchange, or SACE, is an organization made up of over 500 Vanderbilt undergraduate and graduate students dedicated to representing, celebrating, and sharing South Asian culture at Vanderbilt and in the greater Nashville area. We host various cultural and social events throughout the year, which allows Vanderbilt students to participate in their culture during their time here.
Garba
SACE hosts a Garba every fall to teach students how to do Garba while indulging them with free, delicious Indian food.
Events
The Dances of South Asia
The Dances of South Asia (TDS) is SACE's largest and most popular event, showcasing the myriad of dance styles present within South Asia.
Holi
This festival of colors, rooted in Indian and Nepalese tradition, never fails to cover Alumni Lawn in a rainbow of colors.
Our House System
To foster community within SACE, our house system seeks to sort SACE members into one of four houses: Earth, Fire, Air, or Water. Each house is led by 2 to 3 House Heads who create and promote programming (movie nights, dinners, and social gatherings) within and between the houses, creating opportunities for SACE members to mingle and form meaningful connections within our organization. Additionally, SACE offers a Big/Little mentorship program where underclassmen and upperclassmen students are matched together based on their interests to encourage interclass bonding and exchange of ideas and advice.
